AGBU 64th General Assembly Mr. Berge Setrakian from Lebanon, was elected.

1977 10 01 AGBU-64th General Assembly------- The AGBU 64th General Assembly took place on Saturday, October 1, 1977.--------- During the Administrative Partial Election in the Central Board, a secret ballot election was held to replace members whose three-year term of office had concluded.----------- General Director Mr. M. Haygents presented the dual list of nominees, providing brief information about each candidate.------------ Alongside the re-elected members, a new member,----------- He recently settled in New Jersey.------------- In the "Messages" section of the second session of the General Assembly's bulletin, we read:----------- " Chairman Manoukian introduced lawyer Berge Sedrakian, an active member of the AGBU and Armenian Youth organizations, -----------who delivered an address outlining the possibilities for Lebanon's political future.----------- He emphasized that 10-15% of the Lebanese-Armenian community had emigrated and that approximately 180,000 Armenians still remained in Lebanon, -----------whose essential national needs the AGBU was called upon to address. Mr. Setrakian stated that ----------------------emigration from Lebanon should not be encouraged, though the situation of those who had already emigrated must be understood on a human level."
