1973 09 09 AGBU MISAK VEHOUNY Stadium Innoguration ------ Opening of the "Misak Vehuni" Stadium It was a festive day for the Armenian community of Aleh. Finally, the construction of the stadium was completed, and its opening was held on September 9, 1973. A long-held wish was being realized. Thanks to the efforts and persistence of Mr. Hovhannes Tabagean, the director of the AGBU summer school in Aley, as well as the positive encouragement and collaboration of Mr. Sarkis Azadian, the Armenian residents of Aley—and especially the AYA (Antranik Youth Association and Scouts)—received their own field, which would become a gathering place for all.---------------- The ceremony was presided over by Mr. and Mrs. Arsham Vehuni.------------- The students of the summer school, led by their teacher, Mr. Vahe Yazejian, contributed to the festive atmosphere with an impressive parade.---------- Following that, there were successive events, including bicycle, running, and relay races, with the winners receiving Armenian medals. After Armenian and Arabic dances, the first basketball match was held on the same field, between the Homenetmen teams of Zahle and Beirut. After the games, a special reception was held. On the same occasion, Mr. H. Tabakian spoke, commemorating the memory of past dedicated leaders—Nathanyan, Tekeyan, Vehuni, and others
