AGBU Beirut Ladies’ Auxiliary – First Autumn Gathering 4 November 1981 The AGBU Beirut Ladies’ Auxiliary held its first event of the 1981–1982 season on Wednesday, November 4, in the elegant AYA-Knights’ Hall.------- It is not easy to organize social gatherings, especially under the prevailing circumstances, when plans often remain unfinished, leaving behind considerable effort and expense. Nevertheless, the Executive Committee, with patience, dedication, and above all without losing hope, strives to arrange the most suitable activities. Even if these efforts may occasionally be subject to criticism, they are undertaken in pursuit of a noble goal: to create a strong bond between individuals and to bring Armenian families together within the wholesome atmosphere of the AGBU, thereby helping to preserve and strengthen that spirit.----------- The official portion of the dinner gathering was opened by the energetic Chairwoman of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, Mrs. Satenig Manougian, who briefly outlined the committee’s plans for the coming year. She then invited the Recording Secretary to present the financial and activity report for the previous year.----------- Mrs. Rita Topjian spoke about the productive work of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, emphasizing the three successful events organized during the preceding year. The proceeds from these activities had been allocated to AGBU schools as scholarship assistance.--------------- She also expressed deep appreciation for the cooperation of AGBU members and acknowledged the valuable contributions of Mr. Sarkis Minasian, Miss Hasmig Havloudjian, Miss Takouhy Lepejian, and Miss Silva Jigerian. Among those present at the dinner was Mr. Dajab Serabian, a former member of the AGBU Regional Committee. Honoring his presence, Mrs. Rita Topjian stated: “Mr. Serapian has devoted 70 of his 90 years to national service in various countries and organizations. He has helped establish schools, churches, and a hospital. We extend our respect and admiration to you, Mr. Serabian, for your lifelong service to our nation, especially within the AGBU.”---------- In a barely audible voice, Mr. Serabian responded with a few words, expressing his gratitude and satisfaction.---------- The attendees were then invited to the buffet to enjoy the delicious dishes prepared by the Ladies’ Auxiliary. The artistic segment of the evening was enriched by Mrs. Seta Takvorian, who performed Armenian melodies on both the piano and accordion. *done1981 11 04
