Banquet in Honor of Former Members of the AGBU Lebanon Regional Committee

March 16, 1980 – Banquet in Honor of Former Members of the AGBU Lebanon Regional Committee------------ The AGBU-AYA Asbed-Knights’ Committee expressed its gratitude to the former members of the AGBU Lebanon Regional Committee by hosting an honorary banquet. This tribute event was held under the high patronage of the current AGBU Lebanon Regional Committee.--------------- On that day, the Knights’ Hall of the AGBU–AYA Alec Manougian Center was crowded with senior and younger AGBU leaders alike. All had come to honor the distinguished members of the Union and to convey their appreciation for their effective leadership.--------------- Among the honorary AGBU members present at the banquet were: Yervant Demirjian, Prof. Parounag Tovmasian, Hovhannes Kasardjian, Dajad Serabian, and Metre Hrach Setrakian. They were escorted to the hall’s head table, accompanied by members of the current Regional Committee members. Also in attendance was Metre Berge Setrakian, member of the AGBU Central Board, who was visiting the city as a guest.------------ During Mr. Yervant Demirjian’s long years of service, from 1954 to 1973, his colleagues were:---------------- *Dr. Antranik Manougian (Vice Chairman)*Prof. Parounag Tovmasian (Secretary) •*Garbis Nazarian (Treasurer)----------- •*Hovhannes Kasardjian (Advisor)-------- •*Metr Hrachya Shamlian (Advisor)--------- •*Sarkis Shekerjian (Advisor)---------- The event was opened by Mr. Noubar Nazarian, Chairman of the Asbeds-Knights’ Committee, who welcomed the distinguished guests, the leadership of AGBU and AYA, and the Knights.--------------- Referring to the nature of the event, Mr. Nazarian stated that this honorary banquet was a modest expression of appreciation, respect, and gratitude offered by the Knights’ Executive Board to the former distinguished members of the AGBU Lebanon Regional Committee.-----------------Addressing the broad scope of the administrators’ activities, he highlighted their achievements in the cultural, educational, and philanthropic fields, which were made possible through their faith and dedication to the Union they served.
