GENERAL KNOWLEDG CONTEST

1980 03 02 General Knowledge Contest at A. Manougian Center Organized by AGBU-AYA Youth Committee On Sunday, March 2, the AGBU-AYA Youth Committee held a General Knowledge Contest at the Alec Manougian Center, 2nd Floor, with participation from the following four schools: AGBU Hovagimian-Manougian Boys’ Secondary School, AGBU Tarouhy Hagopian Girls’ Secondary School, Armenian Evangelical College, and Sofia Hakopian School. Before the contest began, a speech was delivered by Mr. Ara Keshishian, a member of the Central Committee of AYA, extending his best wishes to the more than 200 attendees. After the opening speech, the contest questions started. The event was conducted by the Chairman of the Youth Committee, Mr. G. Dekirmendjian. The judging panel included one teacher-representative from each participating school. The contest lasted two hours, taking into account that some questions were also directed to the audience. The questions covered a variety of subjects, including geography, history, sports, arts, literature, science, and miscellaneous topics. Out of a possible 100 points, Sofia Hagoian School scored 57 points and earned first place. The prize for the winning team was presented by Mr. Ara Keshishian. Second place went to Tarouhy Hagopian School, with 54.5 points. Silver commemorative plates were awarded to the participating schools.
