1978 – AGBU Tarouhy Hagopian Girls’ Secondary School, Beirut–Lebanon After using the facilities of the Alec Manougian Center and the Hovakimian–Manougian complex for two years, and with the improvement of conditions in the country, the School resumed use of the Tarouhy. Hagopian school building on October 7.--------- It followed the Lebanese State secondary (baccalaureate) curriculum, while also offering fine arts and commercial streams. Of the 306 students, 292 attended school using seven vehicles. Twelve teachers’ meetings and two parents’ meetings were convened. The Parents’ Committee secured a neat sum for the school. As the Brevet and Baccalaureate examinations were cancelled by the State, no candidates were presented. However, students participated in the American University English entrance examinations, of whom seven succeeded. The student periodical “Horizon” was not published. All students joined the AGBU student branch. The majority of the students also joined the AGBU–AYA youth movement and the Girl Scouts group. The Gulbenkian Foundation maintained 25 students, while the P. and E. Torosian Foundation supported 10 students.
