1978 10 22 Yervant Houssissian Armenian Studies Institute, Beirut, Lebanon------------ Classes began on October 22 in the Hovakimian–Manougian School building and, for security reasons, were held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., three times a week, in two class periods.--------------- The teaching staff and subjects taught were as follows: •Mr. Vahe Vahean: Modern Armenian Language and Literature •Mr. Gersam Aharonian: History of the Armenian People •Mr. Parouyr Aghpashian: Classical Armenian (Grabar), History of Armenian Literature, and History of the Armenian School •Mr. Manuel Adamian: History of Armenian Philosophical Thought To ensure the safe return home in the evening of students residing in the eastern part of the city, transportation service was provided from December 1977 until May 1978. The Institute received 750 volumes of books from the Committee for Cultural Relations with the Armenian Diaspora, and an additional donation of 500 dollars from Dr. V. Mkrtichian.
