AGBU Beirut Ladies Auxiliary Lecture about “Venice and the Mekhitarist” presented by Artist and art critic Mr Vazken Tutundjian

1965 Feb 17 AGBU Beirut Ladies Auxiliary organized a Lecture about “Venice and the Mekhitarist” presented by Artist and art critic Mr Vazken Tutundjian... On 17 Feb. 1965, the AGBU Ladies Auxiliary invited the well-known artist and art critic Mr. Vazken Tutunjian to speak at the House of Union on "Venice and its art and the Mkhitarist of Venice". "...After the brief opening speech of the chairperson Mrs Nevart Crisep, the speaker of the day was invited to the stage..." "With a historical overview, based on new and useful data, Mr Tutundjian presented in a skilful speech the once rich and prosperous city of the "Tosh", Venice, with the commercial and military glory of its past and the priceless gems of art created by its genius artists... As an Armenian, It's impossible to talk about Venice and its art without referring to the "Mkhitarist of Venice" To the St Ghazar (St Lazzaro) Monastery and the contribution that the Mkhitaryan fathers made and are making to our culture and arts..." ** On Wednesday, March 24, 1965, the AGBU Beirut Ladies Auxiliary organized the second lecture on "Venice and The Mechitarist of St Lazzaro—the Lecture-presentation with slides by Mr. Vazken Tutunjian. The attendees followed with great interest the colourful pictures shown with a magic lantern and the lecture explanations about the Mkhitarians of Venice. The AGBU Guests, American-Armenian ladies group visiting Lebanon was present at the lecture. After the lecture, the organizing committee prepared a reception in their honour. --------------
