University Students committee organized A Muzical Lecture
AGBU-AYA Armenian University Student Union, convinced of its entrusted mission, organized one of its cultural events on April 8, 1961. At Caloust Gulbenkian Hall, As a lecturer, the well-known and devoted musicologist of Armenian song and music, Mr. Hamartsum Berberian, was invited to speak on "ARMENIAN MUSIC HISTORICAL AT A GLANCE" Apart from the union members, there was a neat crowd who loved and appreciated Armenian song and music..." "The program was conducted by the chairman of the Union, Mr. Zaven Mesrlian. After the opening speech, Mr. Hagob Melkonian played a folk song on the accordion..." "...The day's lecturer brought up the native and special night of Armenian music, threw a brief overview of the history of Armenian music, and then added that music was a huge, fertile field. Gara Murza, Gomitas, Chukhadjian and Tigranyan did their best. ...they were the first ones who studied Armenian music and went to the origin of Armenian songs, the Armenian people. Then, concluding his speech, Mr Berberian added that a huge effort was being made in Armenian song and music education within the current Motherland... "Armenian song and music can compete with European or any other music." After the lecture, various musical samples were listened to.
«ՀԲԸՄ-ՀԵԸի Հայ Համալսարանական Ուսանողաց Միութիւնը համոզուած իրեն վստահուած առաքելութեան՝ 8 Ապրիլ 1961-ին կազմակերպած էր իր հերթական հաւաքոյթներէն մէկը: Որպէս դասախօս հրաւիրուած էր հայ երգի հաւատաւոր եւ նուիրուած երաժշտագէտ Պրն. Համբարձում Պէրպէրեանը խօսելու համար՝ «ՀԱՅ ԵՐԱԺՇՏՈՒԹԵԱՆ ՊԱՏՄՈՒԹԵԱՆ ՎՐԱՅ ԱԿՆԱՐԿ» նիւթիւն շուրջ: Միութեան անդամ-անդամուհիներէն զատ Հայ երգն ու երաժշտութիւնը սիրող եւ գնահատող կոկիկ բազմութիւն մը ներկայ էր...»: «Գեղարուեստական յայտագիրը վարեց Միութեանս ատենապետ, Պրն. Զաւէն Մսրլեանը, որուն բացման խօսքէն ետք բեմ հրաւիրուեցաւ Պրն. Յակոբ Մելքոնեանը, որ ձեռնադաշնակի վրայ նուագեց գետակի Վրայ ժօղովրդական երգը...»: «...Օրուան դասախօսը վեր առաւ Հայ երաժշտութեան բնիկ եւ յատկանշական գիշերը, հպանցիկ ակնարկ մը նետելէ ետք Հայ երաժշտութեան պատմութեան վրայ, ապա աւելցուց թէ հսկայ, բերրի այլ խոպան դաշտ մըն էր երաժշտութիւնը: Կարա Մուրզա, Կոմիտաս, Չուխաճեան եւ տիգրանեան ըրած էին իրենց կարելին: ...անոնք առաջիններն էին որոնք Հայ երաժշտութեան ուսումնասիրութեամբ զբաղեցան, գացին Հայ երգի սկզբնաւորութեան՝ Հայ ժողովուրդին: Ապա, եզրակացնելով իր խօսքը, Պրն. Պէրպէրեանը աւելցուց թէ ներկայիս Հայրենիքէն ներս կը տարուէր հսկայ աշխատանք հայ երգին ու երաժշտութեան ուսունասիրութեան գծով...«Հայ երգը եւ երաժշտութիւնը կրնան մրցիլ եւրոպական կամ որեւէ այլ երաժշտութեան հետ»: Դասախօսութիւնէն ետք կատարուեցաւ երաժշտական ունկնդրութիւն...: (Khosnag Jan-Apr nE-p251)
