May 25, 1980 – AGBU Tarouhy Hagopian Girls’ Secondary School 40th Anniversary Banquet AGBU Tarouhy Hagopian Girls’ Secondary School 40th Anniversary Banquet Despite the prevailing unfavorable political conditions, alongside all the other public events, the concluding festive banquet also came to prove that the Tarouhi Hagopian School is one of those unique educational institutions which, in addition to learning and knowledge, imparts Armenian-oriented upbringing. It molds Armenian young women in its own furnace, kindling within them noble sentiments and lofty inspiration, thus granting them the true “Armenian spirit.”--------- Indeed, even before the appointed time, more than 400 distinguished attendees — friends, parents, and graduates who enthusiastically supported and sincerely appreciated the school’s educational work and progress, as well as its patriotic mission — had hurried to fill the AYA (AGBU ) Alec Manougian dining hall.-------------- On Sunday, May 25, the celebration was held under the patronage of the AGBU Educational Committee.------------------ Seated at the honorary tables were representatives of various AGBU committees, members of the AYA Central committee, principals, and the teaching staff of the school.----------------- Mrs. Knarig Haroutiunian, one of the members of the Jubilee Committee, delivered a brief opening speech in which she welcomed the attendees and wished them an enjoyable evening. She then stated:-------------- “April means to act, acting means to strive, striving means to create, and creating means to rejoice.”-------------- The “Four Stars” orchestra had already enlivened the atmosphere. Shortly afterward, the first principal of Tarouhy School, Mrs. Marie Minasian, was invited to the stage. With deep emotion, she congratulated all Tarouhy students and attendees, then, casting a quick glance back at her sweet memories of the past, asked that everyone pray for the souls of the blessed founders and benefactors of the school.----------- Mrs. Mary Minasian, the first principal of Tarouhy, the current principal Miss A. Janjanian, and Dr. Mary Kasbarian, member of the AGBU Educational Committee, were invited to the stage. Presenting the past and the present, they cut the 40th anniversary cake. (Kh 1980 Jun p21-23) .
