1980 01 06 The Christmas Celebration of the of the AGBU–AYA Student Union Sunday, January 6 — In the afternoon, the first and second floors of the Alex Manoogian Center were filled with a dense crowd of young men and women. It was a long-awaited gathering for the university students. New and old faces, former AYA members, were invited to welcome the new decade together, with enthusiasm and energy.---------------The event began at 3:30 p.m., by which time the “Tramps” disco jockey had already started creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.---------------With opening remarks, the Chairman of the Executive Committee, Mr. Hovik Markarian, welcomed the attendees and expressed his wish that the new decade would be a period of peace and happiness. He then introduced the guests of honor of the day, Mr. Eddy Gosdanian and Mr. Mike Mardirian.--------------By then, the atmosphere had become quite lively… “sangria” began to be served to the attendees, while the dance floor was filled with dancing couples.--------------Taking advantage of a brief moment of calm, the raffle tickets were drawn.---------------It was past 8:30 when the attendees gradually began to disperse, congratulating the University Executive Committee on its successful event. 1980 Jan 6
