1943.. Dec 30 The AGBU Central Relief Committee of Beirut Report: Due to the resignation, departure and death of its several members, the AGBU Relief (Nbasdits) committee was reformed in April 1943. Consisting of representatives of the Catholicosate of Cilicia, Armenian Evangelical and Armenian Catholic Communities. His Grace Archbishop Khat Atchabahian, the Locum Tenens of the Catholicosate was asked to become the President of the following new committee: Mr. D. Mavisakalian, Honorary Chairman; Dr. H. A. Yenikomshian, Chairman; Mr. M. Missirlian, Vice Chairman; Dr. D. Berberian, Secretary; Dr. P. Hasradjian, Assistant Secretary; Mr. P. Yeghiaian, Asistant Secretary; Mr. N. Demirdjian; Trasurer; Mr. G. Papazian, Auditor of Accounts; Dr. A. Aharonian, Mr. V. Nahigian, Mr. K. Menag, Mr. H. Kranian, Members. of the AGBU Central Relief Committee of Beirut for the year of 1943. “ The work of the AGBU Relief Committee during the year 1943 comprised of the following: 1. Cooperation with the Chief of the “Cabinet Social de la Delegation General de la France Combattante en Moyen Orient” 2. Transmission of remittances received from America to their beneficiaries. 3. Conducting an intensive preventive anti-malaria campaign in Beirut River Area, in Ainjar, in Baz (Bass) and Ras-el-Ain. 4. Conducting the medical and dental clinic in the Beirut River Area. 5. Distribution of milk to malnourished children through the Karageuzian Child Welfare Centers of Beirut and Ainjar. 6. General relief, medical and otherwise, to the needy and 7. Educational relief.
