1978 04 21 AGBU -AYA and UNIVERSITY STUDENTS 3 Days Cultural Program --- Cultural Three-Day Event Dedicated to April 24 This year, the AGBU-AYA University Student Committee organized a commendable cultural three-day event dedicated to the Armenian Genocide at the Alex Manoogian Center. •----------On Friday, April 21, Mr. Shahe Khachatourian presented "Armenian Opera," and the next day, ---------April 22, Mrs. Shoghig Isbiryan presented "Armenian Architecture." •----------On April 23, 1978, the third session of the event took place on the first floor of the Alex Manoogian Center, in the presence of numerous university students and elders. The speakers were poet Mr. Vahe Vahian and Historian Mr.Zaven Meserlyan. In his opening speech, Committee Chairman Simon Keoshkerian stated:------------ “The cultural three-day event organized by our University students committee, dedicated to the Devastating Genocide by Turcs against the Armenians, remains a hallmark of the demands and expressions of justice by Diasporan Armenian youth...--------- our students adopt the slogan of April 24 as follows: one homeland, one Armenian nation, one political cause, and one church.”---------- The first speaker of the day, poet Vahe Vahian, presented “The Genocide and Armenian Youth.” He praised the intellectual revival of Armenians across the homeland and the diaspora, showcasing scholars at the forefront of their fields as symbols of Armenian resilience, despite the attempts of criminal plans to erase them.------------ The second speaker of the day, renowned intellectual Mr. Zaven Meserlyan, whose studies focus on the Armenian Genocide and Cause, began his presentation with the statement:------------ “The Turk has not changed before 1915, during 1915, or after 1915; he has remained the same Turk, with monstrous deeds, crimes, and ambitions that assault human values.” (1978 Kh May p11-13)
