Manoukian Center of AYA, in celebration of Lebanon’s Independence Day, and in response to the initiative of the youth and sports organizations’ leadership, organized an inter-club table tennis tournament. The tournament began on November 5, 1979, and continued until November 11, 1979, with matches starting daily at 4:00 p.m. Four clubs participated in the tournament—, AYA, HMEM, HMM, KAHRABA—as well as individual players, with a total of 33 participants. The tournament became quite interesting, as Lebanon’s best players participated, both male and female. The Lebanese press covered the event in detail. The matches were attended by a large number of sports enthusiasts. At the final games, the administrative members of HYE’s higher bodies were present, as well as a representative from the Lebanese Table Tennis Federation. The prize-giving ceremony then took place: each participant was awarded a commemorative medal from AYA. (Kh 1980 Jan-Feb, pp. 14–15) (10
