AGBU-AYA Tripoly chapter’s New Club Opening

1974 12 15 AGBU-AYA Tripoly chapter’s New Club Opening--- With the official opening date of December 15 set for the new club of the AGBU Tripoly branch, the active and enthusiastic committee ladies and young assistants embarked on the decoration of the club.--------- Using the budget of 4,000 Lebanese pounds provided by the AGBU’s District Committee of Lebanon, the necessary items were purchased. At the same time, the resourceful ladies made efforts to make the most out of the existing equipment.--------------- The result of all this was a beautifully and tastefully furnished club, which became an object of admiration and appreciation for everyone.-------- Alongside the decoration, the administration mainly focused on membership recruitment. Thirty new members joined.------------- At the opening ceremony, members of the AGBU District Committee from Beirut and representatives of the organization's various committee members, as well as friends and representatives of various organizations from the Armenian community of Tripoli, were present.------------ Ms. Yvonne Kasarjian officially performed the opening by cutting the traditional ribbon, after which a neat and well-prepared program began.------------ Following the opening speech by the Tripoly chapter Committee chairman, Mrs. A. Kojayan, a performance was given by Mr. Khachik Tashjian, an actor from the V. Papazian Theatre Group. Afterward, the managing secretary, S. Minassian, gave a historical account of the AGBU Tripoli branch.------------ The final speech was delivered by Mr. H. OUzounyan, the secretary of the Regional Committee.------------- On the occasion of the club's opening, a donation of 1,000 Lebanese pounds made by the District Committee was enthusiastically received by the attendees, who, encouraged by this fine gesture, generously contributed, raising the donation amount to 2,815 Lebanese pounds.--------------- The ceremony concluded with a blessing by the parish priest, followed by a reception in a warm atmosphere.
