1972 04 21 AGBU 66th Anniversary celebration under the Auspices of Leb. District committee comm -----------The 66th anniversary of the AGBU foundation was celebrated this year with a special ceremony, on April 21, 1972. At the Newly Constructed AGBU Alec Manougian Youth Center, organized by the AGBU Beirut Committee. The ceremony was sponsored by the AGBU Leb. District Committee. After the hymns of Lebanon and the AGBU, Mr. Hayg Naqqashian, a member of the AGBU Beirut committee, made the opening speech, followed by a piano performence by Guregh Mangrian. Then, the specially invited poet Mr. Smpad Derounian from Cyprus took the stage to speak about the role of the Union for the benefit of the Armenian nation. ------------ The second part of the program consisted of a neat and well-kept artistic section. First, by young architect and gifted reciter Hagop Kouyoumjian preformence. Then, another gifted young man, Hagop Balabanian, One of the soloists of the “Spendiarian” Choir. -----At the end of the ceremony, the documentary of the 10-days ceremonies for the opening of the AGBU-AYA Alec Manougian Center was projected, with commentary by Mr. Harout Balian--
