1969 Nov 16 Asbeds Gen. Meeting and Committee Election The yearly all members meeting of the “ASBED” Group was held on Sunday, November 16, 1966, in the Elmney Club. As the present members were in the majority, the day's secretary managed the meeting. New ones were elected by popular vote, in place of the administrative ones who were suspended due to the condition and resigned due to occupation. The following were elected members of the board for the year 1968-1969: Mr. and Mrs. Noupar Nazarian, Sarkis Demirjian, Hrant Zavzavatjian, George Avakian, Vardkes Balian, Varujan Boyajian, and Berch Bedrosian. In 1969, a dinner party was held in the Bristol Hotel, attended by a select crowd of about 400 people. The long-time chairman of the "Asbeds" is Mr. Noubar Nazarian. The long-time chairman of the Knights, Mr Noubar Nazarian, is absent due to anxiety; the chairperson of the board, Mrs Rita V. Balian, gave the welcome speech and encouraging information. First, he referred to the honourable initiatives that the "Asbeds" have recently mastered, such as the Zahle club building and the Alley building. Then, with great joy, she announced that our most preeminent national philanthropist, the AGBU president, Mr. Alec Manougian, in anticipation of the Asbeds' challenge, had announced a respectable new donation of 100,000 dollars for the construction of the AGBU-AYA Center building in Beirut! Raising the total amount of his donations to 225,000 dollars. But under the condition that the Asbeds group would collect 50,000 dollars in their order, and in this way, the entire fund for the construction of the building would be provided. «ՀԲԸՄ-ՀԵԸնկերակցութեան Ասպետներու Համախմբումի հիմնադրութեան 12րդ տարեդարձը նշուեցաւ 24 Դեկտ. 1969ին, Պրիսթոլ պանդոկին սրահին մէջ տեղի ունեցած ճաշկերոյթով-պարահանդէսով մը, որուն փութացած էր ներկայ ըլլալ շուրջ 400 հոգինոց ընտրանի բազմութիւն մը: Ասպետներու բազմամեայ ժրաջան ատենապետ Պրն. Նուպար Նազարեան (Dec 24 (Kh 1969 Dec p101-103 text and photo ) անհանգստութեան պատճառով բացակայ ըլլալով, ողջոյնի խօսքը ըսաւ ու խրախուսիչ տեղեկութիւններ տուաւ վարչութեան ատենապետուհի Տիկ. Ռիթա Վ. Պալեանը: Վարչութեան բանբերը նախ անդրադարձաւ ՀԵԸի վերջերս գլուխ հանած պատուաբեր ձեռնարկներուն, - Զահլէի սեփական ակումբը, Ալէյի շէնքը, եւայլն, ապա մեծ ուրախութեամբ յայտնեց թէ մեր ազգային մեծագոյն բարերարը, ՀԲԸՄիութեան նախագահ Ալեք Մանուկեանը, ընդառաջ երթալով ասպետներու խնդանքին, խօստացած էր ՀԵԸի սեփական շէնքի կառուցումին համար 100.000 տոլարի պատկառելի նոր նուիրատուութիւն մը, այս նպատակին համար իր նուիրատութեանց ընդհանուր գումարը բարձրացնելով 225.000 տոլարի: ... սակայն պայմանով մը, որ Ասպետները իրենց կարգին հոս հանգանակութիւն ընէին ու գոյացնէին 50.000 տոլար, եւ այդ ձեւով ապահովուէր շէնքի կառուցման ամբողջ ֆոնտը (շուրջ մէկուկէս միլիոն լիբ. ոսկի): (Kh 1969 Dec p101-103)
