AGBU cloth drive: A fire broke out in the Karantina Beirut
1968 06 5-6 for three days of AGBU cloth drive: May 26, A fire broke out in the Karantina Beirut district, as a result of which 97 Armenian families' wooden and tin-covered huts were burned. The Lebanese government and benevolent organizations provided immediate assistance to the arsonists. The AGBU-Lebanon through its Amanos, Tiro and Remeil chapter's Ladies Auxiliaries and committee, and under the supervision of the Union's administrator, on June 5, 6, and 7, our misfortunate people received 13 bales of cloths and 14 bale of boots, packing them according to the number and need of those unfortunate families. «Մայիս 20ին, Պէյրութի Քարանթինա թաղամասին մէջ հրդեհ մը ծագած էր, որուն պատճառով այրած էին 97 հայ ընտանիքներու տախտակաշէն եւ թիթեղածածկ խրճիթները: Լիբանանի կառավարւթիւնն ու բարեսիրական կազմակերպութիւններ անմիջական օգնութեան փութացած էին հրկիզեալներուն: Անոնց կարգին, ՀԲԸՄիութեան Լիբ. Շրջ. Յանձնաժողովը, իր Ամանոս . Թիրօ եւ Ռըմէյլ թաղերու արանց եւ տիկնանց մասնաճիւղերէն կազմուած յանձնախումբի մը միջոցով եւ Միութեան Լիբանանի գործիչին հսկողութեան ներքեւ, մեր դժբախտ ազգակիցներուն Յունիս 5,6, և 7ին բաժնուած է 13 հակ հագուստեղէն եւ (1968 Kh May-Jun p252) 14 սնտուկ կօշիկ՝ զանոնք ծրարներու վերածելով՝ այդ դժբախտ ընտանիքներու թիւին եւ կարիքին համաձայն: (1968 Hoosh Sep n14p5)
