January 26, AGBU-Beirut held a Reception in St. George Hotel
1939 Jan 26: AGBU Beirut chapter held a reception in St. George Hotel in honour of the newly formed “The Armenian Refugee Settlements coordinating Official Committee in Lebanon”, presided by the Lebanese Interior Ministery adviser Mr. Martine. Besides the committee members, among the distinguished guest were the Mouhafes of Beirut Kamil Bey Hamiyeh, Governor of Mount Lebanon Ahmed Bey Berjaoui, Director of Credit Foncier de Tounusi et d’Algerie, Mr. Tourille, And Mr. Djanig Tchaker. Mr. H. Kranian, in the name of AGBU Beirut, expressed his appreciation to the French authorities and the Lebanese government for the care and interest they have shown towards the Armenian refugees. Mr. Tchaker emphasizing the feelings of gratitude of the Armenian people adding: “The AGBU has so far provided extensive support for the settlement of the Armenian refugees, and it will continue not to spare its best!”.
ՀԲԸՄիութեան Պէյրութի Մասնաժողովը Յունուար 26-ին Սէն Ժօրժ Պանդոկին մէջ թէյասեղան մը սարքեց ի պատիւ Լիբանանի կառավարութեան կողմէ վերջերս կազմուած Յանձնաժողովին, որ պիտի զբաղի հայ գաղթականներու տեղաւորման գործով և որուն նախագահն է Լիբանանի Ներքին գործերու նախարարութեան խորհրդական Մ. Մարթէն: Ներկայ էին, բացի յիշեալէն և Յանձնաժողովին միւս անդամներէն, Պէյրութի կուսակալ Քեմիլ Պէյ Համիէ, Լեռնալիբանանի կառավարիչ Ահմատ Պէյ Պերժաուի, Քրէտի Ֆօնսիէ տը Թիւնիզի է տ'Ալժէրիի տնօրէն Պրն. Թուրիլ, Պրն. Ճանիկ Չագըր, Պէյրութի Մասնաժողովին անդամները, եւն.: Յանուն Մասնաժողովին Պրն. Հ. Գրանեան երախտագիտութիւն յայտնեց ֆրանսական իշխանութեանց և Լիբանանի կառավարութեան՝ հայ գաղթականներու հանդէպ իրենց ցոյց տուած հոգածութեան և շահագրգռութեան համար, իսկ Պրն. Չագըր, շեշտելով հայ ժողովուրդին երախտագիտական զգացումները , աւելցուց թէ Բարեգործականը ցարդ բերած է լայն աջակցութիւն հայ գաղթականներու տեղաւորման գործին և այսուհետեւ ալ իր կարելին պիտի չխնայէ: (1939 Mar-Apr n196 p27)
