1980 06 22 AGBU-BOGHOS K. GARMIRIAN KNDERGARTEN END YEAR---- ------ END-OF-YEAR CEREMONY OF THE BOGHOS G. GARMIRIAN KINDERGARTEN--------- END-OF-YEAR CEREMONY OF THE BOGHOS G. GARMIRIAN KINDERGARTEN With exceptional success, and with a carefully prepared, varied, and rich program, the kindergarten certificate distribution ceremony of the AGBU for the 1979–1980 academic year of the Boghos G. Garmirian School was held on Sunday, June 22, at 10:00 a.m. in the school auditorium, under the presidency of the AGBU Lebanon Educational Committee. A large number of parents and friends had gathered to attend the event.------- After the welcoming speech delivered by Mrs. Jacqueline Madourian, the ceremony was officially declared open. When the curtain rose, the audience found themselves facing a beautifully decorated garden scene, where 64 everlasting blue flowers — 64 lively and energetic children — with sparkling eyes, were looking toward their families.------- In her opening remarks, Mrs. J. Madourian referred to the needs of the Armenian-populated district of Antelias, comparing the former school of Antelias with the new one. She spoke about the necessity for the new school and about the fulfillment of that urgent need through the generosity of the benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Haji Kevork and Marijan Garmirian. She also addressed the Armenian cultural preservation work being carried out in the school, particularly in the kindergarten-----------After the flawless recitation of “Welcome” by the Vani Mikaelian, three group songs were performed with harmony, enthusiasm, and great success. Throughout the program there were recitations in Arabic and Armenian, while the kindergarten orchestra performed and sang three songs--------.At the end of the first part of the program, the students of Class section A and the Class section B came forward to receive their certificates. The child Sossi Injirkoshian successfully delivered the farewell message titled “Good-bye.”------- Following this, the school principal, Mr. Hovhannes Tabakian, was invited to the stage to deliver his remarks. “Many difficult and favorable days have come and gone,” he said. “There have been moments of enthusiasm and moments of discouragement. Yet our people are full of hope and know how to overcome every obstacle and hardship in the most difficult moments. We must not despair, we must not retreat. The admirable love and devotion that parents show toward their Armenian school overcome every difficulty.”----------- He then cited an example from among the devoted parents: in response to the difficulties faced by the school, particularly the frequent electricity cuts, one parent donated an electric generator worth about 4,000 Lebanese pounds to the school.------- “Long live the brave and unyielding spirit of our people,” he added. “May peace be established in our beloved country, and may your little children grow and strengthen happily and carefree under your blessed protection.”-------------- Afterward, the second part of the program was presented. The performances included dances, exercises, an Armenian ballet, and a Russian dance.----------- The ceremony concluded with the closing remarks of Mrs. Jacqueline Madourian. -CELEBRATION
