Tea Reception-Meeting

1980 01 20 – Tea Reception/Meeting Organized by the Jubilee Central Committee of the Tarouhy Hagobian School (Kh. Feb. 1980, p. 29) The AGBU Tarouhy Hagobian Girls’ Secondary School is celebrating its fortieth anniversary. In order to mark the school’s four decades of foundation in a fitting manner, upon the initiative of the school administration and with the direct support of the alumnae, a Jubilee Central Committee was formed. Its first event—a tea reception/meeting—took place on Sunday, January 20, 1980, at the Boghos Garmirian School, where, for the past two years, the school’s classes have been continuing away from its own premises, for reasons well known to all.---------- Indeed, on Sunday morning the alumnae hastened to the new gathering place to see their former classmates and familiar friends. Also present were members of our school’s teaching staff and the Parent Support Committee.-------------- The diligent and devoted ladies and young women of the Jubilee Central Committee welcomed the newly arrived guests with tea and pastries.-------------- The number of attendees reached around two hundred—a very encouraging sight for a first meeting, resumed after a long interruption imposed by Lebanon’s difficult circumstances.--------------- The school’s esteemed principal, Ms. Anjel Janchanian, who also worthily serves as Chairwoman of the Jubilee Central Committee, addressed the audience, expressing her gratitude for their interest in the school and providing information about the future programs of the Jubilee Central Committee.----------- The respected principal emphasized the role and importance of the Daruhi Hakobian School not only for the Armenian community of Lebanon, but also for the entire Armenian Diaspora. Its more than 800 graduates today hold highly honorable positions in nearly all Armenian-populated communities.------------- Ms. Djanjanian then invited to the podium one of the school’s alumnae, Dr. Marie Kasparian, who, in her dual capacities as Chairwoman of the AGBU Educational Committee and President of the Jubilee Central Committee, addressed those present.--------------- In her heartfelt remarks, Dr. M. Gasparian warmly congratulated the organizing committee on this initiative and wished success to the future programs of the Jubilee Central Committee.------- ----------- 1980 01 20
