Dec 29, 1979 – AGBU Lebanon Regional Committee Secretary Vartkes Kardashian Retires After rendering a long and productive service in national life, at the end of 1979, for reasons of health, Mr. Vartkes Kardashian, Executive Secretary of the AGBU Educational Committee, was called to retirement.----------Mr. Kardashian possesses a rich record of nearly half a century in Armenian national and organizational life, which was realized primarily through his activities in Cairo and Beirut.------------On December 29, 1979, a commemorative gift was presented to Mr. Kardashian by the AGBU and the AYA.----------- Biographical Notes: Born in Bilejik on March 5, 1911. Primary Education: Sahagian National School of Konya. He later attended the preparatory section of Jenanian College and subsequently settled in Cairo, where he continued his education at the Kaloustian National School, graduating in 1925 after completing the six-year program.------------- During the following two years, he attended Collège Français and later the commercial section of the Lycée Français, which he was compelled to discontinue due to his family’s financial hardship.--------------- He worked as a construction supervisor.
