1975 07 10 AGBU-Yervant Demirdjian Elemnt and Kinder School Graduation ----AGBU Yervant Demirjian School has been serving the noble task of educating the young Lebanese-Armenian generation for 18 years.--------- The traditional celebration for the 1974–1975 school year, sponsored by the AGBU Lebanese Educational Committee and presided over by the school’s benefactors, Mr. and Mrs. Yervant Demirjian,------------ took place on the evening of July 10, 1975, at the Caloust. Gulbenkian Auditorium of the Hovagimian-Manougian School.------------ Unlike previous years, this year’s event was limited to the distribution of diplomas and a concise program------------ due to the unfavorable local political conditions. Similarly, the kindergarten and elementary school celebrations were merged, constituting a second necessary deviation from the school’s traditions.------------- The event began with the playing of the national anthems of Lebanon and the AGBU, performed on piano by the elementary school’s music teacher, Mr. M. Kankrouny.------------- The opening speech was delivered by the graduating class teacher, Mr. Hagop Avedikian.------------ Following that, 49 graduates of the kindergarten flooded the stage.---------- Among them, Virna Arabian recited a message with clear enunciation. Subsequently, two group songs were performed by the 49 "Dzaghig." Graduates.----------- A short while later, diplomas were distributed by Dr. D. Varjabedian, the Chair of the Union’s Lebanese Educational Committee.------------- The second part of the celebration was dedicated to the graduates of the elementary school.-------------- Shortly thereafter, 42 male and female graduates were invited onto the stage.---------------- Among the graduates of the final class, Hourig Attarian and Vahan Asrabian read heartfelt farewell speeches in Armenian and Arabic, respectively.---------- The graduates, under the direction of Mr. M. Kankrouny and accompanied by Vatche Gyureghian,------------- performed two-part choir pieces for the audience. -----------Following this, 42 deserving graduates received their diplomas from the school’s Principal, Mr. Agishian. ----------Subsequently, the honorable Principal delivered the traditional final address to the graduates.------------ Afterward, prizes were awarded to the students of Grade 6. ----
